what a nightmare

I just spent the last few hours trying to navigate the DoD's web page on visa requirements for fiancees and spouses of American citizens. There seem to be a million hoops, and with the hoops, a million ways to be denied entry to the United States...

The GS and I are trying to plan some future that does not include Korea, but it looks like it is going to be costly and difficult to get him into the US- even for a relatively short visit.

His political activity, status as an illegal immigrant and lack of financial resources, combined with my debt and lack of US domicile make it almost impossible for us to live America.

Shit... What if Bangladesh is our only option?!

i dont want to sound like a broken record, but have you looked into the govt. of canada? i know it isn't the most ideal solution, but they are way more open to situations like his than the US... just a thought.

i miss you and i'm thinking of you,

Yeah, I wondered about Canada, too...

louese, thanks for the email with the website. and sorry that i didn't write back. i guess we might have to consider canada as an option, eh? montreal wouldn't be so bad- except for the speaking french part. i hate french.

no problems on the writing back thing. and really, the french thing isn't completely necessary.

i still don't quite par-lay with the rest of them and i am getting close to opening a knitting store.

it seems, in your situation, that montreal could work. canada is open to situations such as yours, (quebec even more so) and there are so many cultures here. also, you wouldn't be too far from the fam. you don't have to seek asylum, you can find a job, i'm sure. you are talented and young enough. they need people like you here. hell, they need people here, full stop.

and of course, there is a room available in our apartment to land in. always. :) (it is full of yarn at the moment, but that isn't a big deal)

keep us informed of the situation, and if we can help you all if you choose to pursue this option. i miss you, and am thinking of you.

oh yea, and if you can prove you have been living together for one year to the govt. of quebec, you are considered married. don't know how that would work in your situation, but it is something that quebec does. i don't think the rest of the provinces would do that. it is called a de-facto spouse. that's what sean is and i to him.

that is all.
